General misconception about the word "trust"

On this website, when we write about trust, we refer to the business of providing management and administration services to foundations, funds and client companies in certain jurisdictions. This is also known as "civil law trust" and not to be confused with the Anglo-Saxon concept of "trust", a centuries old legal instrument used by families and individuals for purposes of estate planning.

Many trust companies also establish and administer Anglo-Saxon trusts.
